Those days when I was still a kid, one of my aunties was said came across a mermaid who was swimming, during the day,as Fate may have it,she was on her way going to the stream to fetch herself water,on reaching to the way that leads to the stream ,she perceived a nice sweet perfume coming from the distance of the water , according to her she felt that maybe someone is bathing in the river but when she draws closer, she realized that it was a beautiful  ebony lady with dark long hair and tail of a fish, according to my aunt, when she saw the mermaid,her head swell immediately while the mermaid disappeared instantly.

Though many people disagreed with her encounter,but among those who fail to agree on  this ,some of them started seeing realities when my aunt fell sick after this scene and since then she stopped going to the stream alone for the fear of encountering this mythical creature anymore

For example, in some coastal communities, fishermen have tales of mermaids appearing at dawn or dusk, times when the veil between worlds is thought to be thinner.
